All About Amelia - 10 months old!

Amelia, you're 10 months old!!

You weigh 21 pounds - 11 ounces. You're 28.25 inches long.

You're wearing size 3 diapers.

You're wearing mostly 12 month clothing. Some 9 month - depending on the brand. It's hard to find 9 month clothing that is long enough for you.

You're sleeping 11-12 hours every night. You take a morning and afternoon nap that range from 1-2 hrs each. You're always so happy when you wake up!

You're taking 8-10 ounces of formula, four times a day. You eat baby food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Mommy gave you a french fry and you loved it. You also love angel hair pasta - no sauce. :)

Da-da is your favorite word right now. You just sit and say it over and over. You still only say Ma-ma when you're upset. You say ba-ba (bottle) and bye-bye a lot. You will also copy us if we say, "shoo" (as in something stinks). (LOL)

You wave hi and bye-bye.

You're very affectionate and will give kisses to just about anyone.

You recognize the word "snack." As soon as I ask you if you want a snack, you turn and start my way. You woke up one morning and decided that your favorite snack is Gerber Puffs. You like every flavor. It's so cute to watch your little fingers pick them up and take them to your mouth.

You also like the Gerber cheese puffs.

Your Granny has taught you to clap your hands and it's so cute. You stop and hold one hand still and clap it with your other hand.

You have two bottom teeth that have come through and a top tooth coming in!

You no longer army crawl...it's full-blown crawling everywhere you go. You have the red knees to prove it.

You pull yourself up to the couch, chairs, whatever you can...all.day.long. No wonder you're exhausted by the end of the day. You pull yourself up and will let go and stand for just a couple of seconds before falling. You are very brave and forget that you don't know how to walk just yet. :)

You're into everything. You're constantly looking around to see what you can get into next. You will sit and play with toys on your own, but lose interest fairly quickly. Even if Mommy is on the floor playing with you, you're looking for something to get into. You keep us on our toes, sweet girl! (LOL)

You love electronics.

You're still a very go-with-the-flow baby. We can keep you up past your bedtime (for whatever reason) and you rarely fuss. You will sleep in the car or wherever you happen to be. You sleep wonderfully in a hotel crib or pack-n-play, which makes it so easy to travel with you. You have been in the car for over 5 hours at a time and as long as we stop to change and feed you, you're happy!

You're deathly afraid of changing tables at restaurants, stores, etc. You hold on for dear life...you think you're going to fall and it's the saddest thing I've ever seen. This is what you do every time. SO SAD!! :(

We feel so blessed that God chose us to be your parents, Amelia. We love you so much and we make sure to tell you over and over, every day!!

Love,
Daddy & Mommy

The Princess and the Pacifier...

It has been a good week/weekend. My Mom was in town to speak at a women's event, so she stayed with us. She hasn't seen Amelia (other than in pics and video that I send her daily!) in quite some time. I took this video of them doing patty-cake together. :)

I took Amelia to her 9 month well visit and she is now 21 lbs - 11 ounces and is 28.25 inches long. She fell between the 80%-90% on weight and height. I'm always surprised at how much she has grown at each visit! She was able to stop her antibiotic after 7 days, since the ear infection was gone. That's a good thing...no more upset tummy!! All we have to get rid of now is the runny nose. I asked her doctor about when we should take away Amelia's pacifier. She suggested starting to give it to her only at bedtime and go from there. I'm thinking we will try this when Amelia is a year old. Or a little closer to a year anyway. :) She doesn't need it all day, but when she gets upset she definitely wants it.

Speaking of pacifiers. I was dressing Amelia for bed the other night and she was fighting me and rolling around all over the place. I had already turned the lights out and was practically dressing her in the dark. I put her jammies on and started rocking her to sleep. She quickly fell asleep, but woke up ALL.NIGHT.LONG. I would go into her room, give her a pacifier, and roll her over on her tummy or side (how she usually likes to sleep). She would go back to sleep again, but it felt like we did this all night long. She finally wakes for good at 6am, so I get her up and start to unbutton her pajamas to change her diaper. And what did I find? A pacifier inside of her jammies!! That poor baby had to try and sleep on a hard paci all night long! I felt terrible! My brother told me it was her own little Princess and the Pea story, but rather The Princess and the Pacifier. HAHA! It taught me to never dress her in the dark again. (LOL)

We had breakfast at Mimi's with Mom, Joy, Gerry, Cody & Pryce over the weekend. Amelia did really well. We were there for two hours and she sat in her highchair, eating, playing with toys, throwing toys on the floor, and people watching the entire time. :)

Here she is getting some lovin' from Uncle Gerry & Aunt Joy.

She has started playing with her baby dolls and it's the cutest thing. Here's a video of her giving her baby kisses. :)

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend. We have a busy week ahead! How about you?

Love to all,

Mommy Boot Camp...

I haven't turned on my computer in over a week, but things are gradually getting back to normal around the Averitt house. Amelia is getting better each day. She was put on an antibiotic for the ear infection that really upset her stomach. I was changing her clothes at least 4 times a day because of it. She then developed a really bad yeast infection from it, so they changed her antibiotic and called in some miracle cream for the yeast infection. The rash is gone, but we still have an upset stomach and runny nose. I have only taken her to the doctor and through the drive-thru pharmacy in the last week. Since she's still having an upset stomach, I just hate to take her out and then have to clean up an accident somewhere other than my home. She is back to her normal sleep schedule though...she slept 12 hours last night!

I do have something exciting to report. Amelia started crawling this week!!

I've had a really bad headache for three days now. I went to the doctor yesterday and he thinks it's either sinus or a migraine. He gave me meds for both and if that doesn't fix it, he's ordering an MRI. I don't think I will need the MRI. I honestly think it's stress related. It has been a hard two weeks with very little sleep. I can feel the tension in my back and neck. I know that I've been a mother for a little over 9 months now, but I feel like the last two weeks have been a true test of whether or not I was going to make it as a mother. It has been like Mommy Bootcamp around here. (LOL)

One thing that I hate about going to the doctor is as soon as you walk through the door, they put you on a scale. It sits right there in the hallway where anyone and everyone can see! Ugh. My doctor and I talked for a while yesterday. I hadn't seen him in over a year, so there was lots to catch up on. He asked if I've been depressed and I said, "ONLY ABOUT GETTING THIS EXTRA WEIGHT OFF!" He then says, "I remember when you were that skinny girl walking into my office, you can do this."

I'm glad someone remembers that girl.

I haven't been able to workout in over two weeks, since Amelia has been sick. I'm just not going to have someone else take care of my baby while she's sick, so that I can go lift weights and run on a treadmill. I want to be the one taking care of her. Though as soon as she and I are both better, I have to start back. I need it. I also need a manicure/pedicure/eyebrow wax - BAD! Maybe that will happen this weekend.

I do get on my iPhone and read a few blogs when I can, but I'm so behind on blogging/reading/commenting. I'll hopefully catch up soon!

I hope you're all doing well!!

I'm sick of it...

Sick of being sick that is!

Since last Friday, Amelia and I have both been sick. I took her to the doctor yesterday and she had the start of her first ear infection. She also has a nasty cold...runny nose, sneezing, coughing, sinus drainage, etc. For the first few days, I couldn't even keep a bottle down her. She would start to choke on the drainage and would throw up her entire bottle. Didn't matter if it was formula or juice...she threw it up. She refused pedialyte. Probably because it tastes SO NASTY. Up until last night, she has slept in our bed, propped up on her boppy pillow so she could breathe.

Sidenote: We're getting a king size bed. Pronto.

We've been using the nasal spray and suctioning her nose on a regular basis and it's World War III, each and every time.

Bless it. It's 2010...there has to be a better way to get snot out of a baby's nose.

I feel so bad for her. I should have taken her to the doctor on Friday. This proved to me that I do know my baby and it doesn't matter what a nurse says over the phone. Her ear was hurting and that's why she was screaming her head off constantly. She has cried more over the past few days than I've ever heard her cry in the last 9 months.

She took her first dose of antibiotic last night and actually slept in her crib all night long. I would get up and check on her every few hours, just to make sure she was breathing okay. I honestly didn't know if I could make it another night on little-to-no-sleep. It's so hard being sick while you're baby is sick.

So if you were wondering where I've been, I've been covered in throw up and snot for the past few days. (LOL)

I wish I were kidding.

I think we're finally on the mend and I will hopefully be back to blogging very soon.

Love to all,
